We won the 2003 Creative Presentation Trophy!
thumb20031206 - LEGOLAND COMPETITION12.jpg It was a cold, foggy morning when we got to LEGOland in Carlsbad, California.  But, even the weather couldn’t have dampened our spirits.

It was our second year, and we hoped to do better.  After checking in at the entrance, we were led to our table in the main tent.  There, we displayed our presentation boards and talked with the other teams around us.

One of the requirements for some of the higher awards is team sportsmanship, and it was very interesting to see the differences in each team.  Some teams were very friendly, while others didn’t want to have anything to do with you.   Throughout the day we continued to see this.

In all three matches, our robot didn’t do well, but it was interesting to see how other teams tackled a problem.

We then did our presentation.  We chose to do it in the form of a skit.  One of us was a scientist from NASA, while the rest were Martians.  We pretended our Mars rover was being picked apart by Martians who were explaining what each piece was.  Since our team loves doing a presentation, it was no wonder we won the Creative Presentation Award for the 2003 FLL Competition!

One thing we did learn was that if your team is selected for an award, that they usually call you back to redo your presentation.  So, when we were called back, we thought we might win an award.

We were discouraged at the awards assembly when we weren’t called for some of the trophies we had aimed for, but we were excited when we received the Creative Presentation Award.  We hope we can come again next year.
